The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra has been independently and favorably compared to musical giants such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Boston Symphony and the Detroit Symphony Orchestras.  All of these orchestras play regularly here, and our quality-conscious audience equates us to them with their discretionary entertainment dollars. This past season the A²SO announced its second-largest subscriber base in its 87-year history, underscoring the quality of the musical experience delivered to our growing audience.

The A²SO is a versatile orchestra, performing the gamut of musical styles: from Beethoven to Pärt, and from the revered Russian Masters to new and contemporary music by Ann Arbor’s own Bill Bolcom, Evan Chambers, Michael Daugherty, and Bright Sheng.

A²SO concerts frequently feature world-class guest soloists including opening this season with Garrick Ohlsson in Hill Auditorium.   Our Symphony is most privileged to be part of a community already enriched with musical talent including Concertmaster Aaron Berofsky and Principal Oboist Tim Michling.   We are proud to play concerts in all venues – from area farmers markets to school classroom, and from libraries to day care centers and senior centers.

The owner of Which Wich Superior Sandwich is a University of Michigan and thrilled to be back in town! Which Wich has already done many catering orders to businesses in town as well as the University of Michigan!

The Cat’s Meow plans to be the first cat cafe in Michigan, located in Ann Arbor. We will be a cafe that is divided into two sections, part coffee shop as well as part cat rescue shelter. We have partnered with Happy Hearts Feline Rescue for the adoption process of the cats. We have also partnered with Mason Jar Coffee Co. as our specialty coffee roaster.

Cat cafes offer a solution for people who want to play with cats but cannot have them in their home. They can also adopt the cats in the cafe. The cafe brings the cats to the public; solving the issue that currently people seek out their rescue animals, while a cat cafe allows the rescue animals to seek out their owners.

We believe in changing the methods of rescue facilities by bringing the rescued cats directly to the public. Our goal is to give cats a comfortable home while waiting to be adopted.

The Barre Code Ann Arbor opened in August 2011 downtown by owner Adrianne Madias, who was born and raised here in Ann Arbor as well.  The original studio, Barre Bee Fit, began in Chicago in 2010 and when Adrianne met the owners of that studio, it was decided that she would use Ann Arbor as a test market to see if the concept would grow and be successful.  4 years later, there are two studios in town, the second opened in 2014.  It has now begun to franchise across the nation as well.

The Herb Amster Center is the social enterprise division of Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County. The Center’s mission is to enhance economic stability for individuals and families in the community by developing revenue-generating businesses for JFS. By increasing revenue, the Center will reduce JFS’ dependence on grant and foundation funding. The Herb Amster Center’s training and development business is among its first and most notable revenue-producing achievements.
