Ann Arbor District Library

The existence of the Ann Arbor District Library assures public ownership of print collections, digital resources, and gathering spaces for the citizens of the library district. We are committed to sustaining the value of public library services for the greater Ann Arbor community through the use of traditional and innovative technologies.

a2library.gifThe Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) system is composed of the Downtown Library, four branch libraries (Malletts Creek, Traverwood, West, Pittsfield). The AADL provides services at no charge to all residents living within the Ann Arbor School District's boundaries with services available to all others for a fee.

Ann Arbor District Library Values:
•    Excellence in customer service
•    Providing, supporting, and advocating access for all
•    Acting with initiative, creativity, and flexibility
•    Working together, with enthusiasm and optimism, to reach goals
•    Responsible stewardship of resources

Businesses or individuals who are Ann Arbor residents may take advantage of a free Library card. Below are resources to determine your residency.

•     The Ann Arbor Public Schools Attendance Area Street Guide gives street names and address numbers for their district (which has the same boundaries as AADL).
•     The Washtenaw County Property Lookup will indicate the school district for each location that is on the county tax roles. That school district needs to be AAPS to qualify for a no fee resident AADL card.
